FLASH PIXEL FONTS - User Manual

There are five main issues regarding antialiasing in Flash which have to be addressed in order to achieve the desired result when using our Flash Fonts.

1. Font Size
2. Text Field Y and X Location in the Flash Movie
3. Text Field Paragraph Alignment
4. Flash Movie Publish Settings
5. Using Text in Movie Clips
6. Other Considerations

1  Font Size

All fonts downloaded from Alpha Omega Digital are designed for use in size 10.

Bold and Italics can not be used with this fonts as Flash will attempt to distorts the text to simulate Bold or Italics Font and the text will appear blurry.

Make sure your font size is
set to 10 pixels as shown on
Figure 1.

2  Text Field X and Y Location:

Text Fields using flash pixel fonts should be always placed at exact integer (.0 ) X and Y values on the stage.

To ensure that the text field is positioned properly do the following:

1. Select the text field on the stage.
2. In the "Info" panel change any fractions to (.0).

Example: If X position of the text field in the Info Panel is 73.08, change it manually to 73.0
(see Fig. 2)

Do the same for Y position.

3  Paragraph Alignment:

Paragraph must be aligned left or right.

To align your text use Paragraph tab. (see Fig. 2)

Note: You can make your text look as if it is Center aligned by using spaces at the beginning of every line and return at the end of the line. Your text should be "left" aligned in the Paragraph tab.

2  Using Text in Movie Clips:

Text Fields within Movie Clips should be always placed at exact integer (.0 ) X and Y values within the movie clip (see Fig 4).

The movie clip itself must be also positioned at a whole integer (.0) on the stage.

To ensure that the Movie Clip and the Text Field within the Movie Clip are positioned correctly do the following:

Text Field within the Movie Clip:

1. Select the text field within the movie clip.
2. In the "Info" panel change any fractions to (.0).

Example: If X position of the text field in the Info Panel is 73.08, change it manually to 73.0
(see Fig. 4a)

Do the same for Y position.
